Welcome to the TechEthos newsletter

In this edition, the spotlight is on our series of policy briefs addressed at European policymakers

Welcome, old and new readers! For our new readers, TechEthos is an EU funded project that brings together a team of ten scientific partners and six science engagement organisations to work together on the ethics of new and emerging technologies.

Our overall goal is to produce ethics guidelines that enable the inclusion of ethical and societal values in the earliest phases of technology design and development.
This "ethics by design" approach will not only provide value for researchers and innovators, but also for related stakeholders such as research funding bodies, research ethics committees, and the future users of our three technology families: Climate Engineering, Neurotechnologies and Digital Extended Reality.

In this edition the spotlight is on our series of policy briefs providing recommendations for the governance and regulation of Climate Engineering, Neurotechnologies and Digital Extended Reality.

Read on to learn more about our national legal case studies, get a glimpse of our societal engagement activities, and discover the first opinion piece of our Advisory and Impact Board experts.

Do pass on this newsletter to those who you think would like to join this growing community of ethics-driven, emerging technology enthusiasts.

We look forward to having you with us on the journey ahead,

The TechEthos Team

Opinion piece by Ivan Yamshchikov

1,50 US dollar. This is the hourly rate of so-called “data labelers”, workers moderating and labeling online content.  Can we ensure that the benefits of AI could improve the human condition globally and eventually change the economic situation for data labelers as well?
