Welcome to the TechEthos newsletter

The spotlight is on TechEthos key resources, crafted to steer you through the ethical development of emerging technologies

Welcome, both new and familiar readers!
After an enriching three-year journey, it's time for us to bid farewell.

For those unfamiliar, TechEthos is an EU-funded project that brought together a team of ten scientific partners and six science engagement organisations to work together on the ethics of new and emerging technologies. Our mission was to enhance ethics guidelines facilitating the integration of ethical and societal values from the earliest stages of technology design and development.

Following the "ethics by design" approach, our vision provides value not only for researchers and innovators but also for related stakeholders like research funding bodies, ethics committees, and the future users of our technology families: Climate Engineering, Neurotechnologies, and Digital Extended Reality.

In this edition, we offer an overview of key resources, tools, and reports crafted to steer you through the ethical development of emerging technologies.

Explore our Societal Readiness Tool (SRT) tailored for design developers and innovators, and don't miss our Anticipatory Ethics matrix (TEAeM), providing a systematic approach for researchers, academics, and policymakers to navigate ethical concerns. Dive into our policy recommendations for the ethical governance of Climate Engineering, Neurotechnologies, and Digital Extended Reality, and grasp the essence of our multi-stakeholder approach.

While TechEthos concludes, we're confident that our learning and achievements will contribute to paving the way for ethical horizons in emerging technologies.

A heartfelt thank you for your unwavering support throughout this incredible journey.

"We all know it is very challenging to act ethically in an unethical environment. But the opposite is equally true.
When we have an ethical environment, it gets very hard to behave in an unethical way. We all work together to try to make ethical environments in which ethical acts of individuals can flourish.
